MRW-19-5.72 State Bridge Replacement

This Shaffer Pomeroy project involved upgrading 180’ of S.R. 19 by replacement of the existing structure including approach reconstruction. Our services included surveying and engineering for the preparation of roadway construction plans including a detour plan and design of guardrail and ditches to keep the project within the existing right of way. Through careful hydraulic analysis, we were able to replace a three-span continuous concrete slab bridge with a 26’ span x 9’ rise x 43’ long three-sided precast concrete culvert. This approach increased the hydraulic capacity of the bridge opening while providing a smaller structural footprint and thus reduced environmental complications to the project. SJL provided 3-sided structure design checking.
Project estimated construction cost was $276,440.
