Heartland Trail, Phase 1

This Multi-Use Path Project involved surveying and engineering services for the design and preparation of detailed plans for a 2.4-mile-long, 10’ wide, trail with an asphalt wearing course from Orrville to Marshallville in Wayne County. Our work involved design of the path, culverts, storm sewers, parking lots, traffic control, preparation of the bid package, and assistance during the bidding process and construction administration. To improve the safety where the path crosses S.R.94 just south of Marshallville and at Forrer Road where there was limited sight distance, we called for warning signs with Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacons (RRFB) activated by wireless bollards placed on either side of the path near the roadway. We also coordinated all environmental studies and reports, and preparation of required easements from adjoining property owners.

The project construction cost is $1.0 million.
